The New Jersey State Library

Connecting people with information through libraries
Welcome to the New Jersey State Library's website.

At the State Library we believe access to information and libraries empowers people, organizations and government. As leader of the more than 2,000 member libraries in the NJ Library Network, the State Library takes a proactive and innovative approach in guiding libraries and providing information to foster a literate, productive and competitive New Jersey. I am especially proud of the way NJ Libraries are helping job seekers during the economic environment.

I encourage you to learn more about our three bureaus: State Library Information Center, Library Development Bureau and the Talking Book and Braille Center. Each one has a distinct role in serving state government, libraries and the residents who call New Jersey home.

Best regards,
Norma Blake, New Jersey State Librarian

JerseyConnect

JerseyConnect is the statewide technology services organization and network infrastructure delivered through the New Jersey State Library, an affiliate of Thomas Edison State College. JerseyConnect builds on the Hub Libraries program, which was established in 1998 to help to bridge the digital divide by providing low cost internet access and related services to public libraries in New Jersey.

The JerseyConnect network is a state-of-the-art combination of hardware and applications that are the foundation for the programs and projects that meet libraries' needs now and in the future.

JerseyConnect's primary service is network access to our fully redundant and scalable core infrastructure and to the Internet beyond. However, we recognize that this access can be expensive, and is not always the best use of a library's limited budget. For this reason, many of JerseyConnect's services are available to all libraries in New Jersey, even those that do not connect directly to our network.
