Norma Blake, New Jersey State Librarian, is happy to announce that starting March 1, 2012 public libraries will have the opportunity to apply to borrow a Mobile Device Discovery Kit through a program sponsored by the State Library.
Any public library that is interested in borrowing one of these kits, for use by the staff in the library only, must first fill out a Mobile Device Discovery Kit Application and submit it to the State Library. Your library will be contacted if you are selected to receive a kit based on your completed application, including a description of how you intend to use the devices.
Each kit includes 5 iPads, and one each of the following: Barnes & Noble Nook, Kindle Touch, Kindle Fire and Samsung Galaxy Tablet. Each kit can be loaned for 2 months and the library is responsible for pick-up and drop-off in person of the kit from the location selected on the Mobile Device Discovery Kit application (the NJ State Library in Trenton or LibraryLinkNJ, the Statewide Library Cooperative, in Piscataway).
Libraries will be responsible for any damage or loss of the devices in the kit. The application and lending policy can be found below. Please contact Jennifer Podolsky, firstname.lastname@example.org, 609-278-2640 ext. 135 if you have any questions.
