Visitor Parking:

Visitors may use street parking at meters on West State Street (use the Calhoun Street exit directions) or may park in the surface lot behind the State House (use the Memorial Exit directions). For anyone who is unable to take stairs, it is advisable to use the meters on West State Street and enter the N.J. State Library from street level. If you do park at the surface lot, there is a dirt trail directly behind the entrance to the employee parking garage. Follow this trail and you will come to the "dock" area for the Library. Turn right and follow to the building ahead. This is a walkway between the State Library and the State Museum. Enter the door to your right (a guard is usually stationed here) and then make a quick left through this door and you will proceed up a slight ramp to the Level 2 door of the N.J. State Library. Enter these doors and show you ID to the guard.

When you leave:

If you parked at street level - Exit at Level 3 of the library. If you parked in the surface lot and took the stairs, exit at Level 3 and make a right to go to the square with the fountain. The stairs are diagonally right from this door. If you came in the surface lot using instructions for those who cannot take the stairs, exit through Level 2 of the Library. Go through the doors, making a right and down the ramp through doors. Make another right and then a quick left. This will take you by the Loading dock. Just after the loading dock, make a left and follow the path to the surface lot and your vehicle.
