The New Jersey State Library has over 10,000 electronic books available through netLibrary. The e-books are full text and fully searchable. An account is required to view the full text content remotely.

The State Library's e-book collection is licensed for remote use by State Library authorized users.

State employees and Thomas Edison State College staff and students may establish an account by completing the Create a Free Account Form. Please note that you will need to enter your State Library card barcode before accessing the form if you are at a location outside the library.

Once your account is created, you may use the State Library e-book collection from any computer, regardless of location, by entering your user name and password whenever logging into netLibrary.


Searching E-Books:

Search for e-books by author, title, subject, keyword, or full text by entering words wiithout puctuation such as commas, apostrophes, and colons.

An advanced search option allows for more complex searches utilizing multiple fields.


Reading E-Books:

After searching for and locating e-books of interest, click on View this eBook to start browsing the full text. If you stop actively viewing the book (turning pages, printing or searching within the text) for 15 minutes, the book will be "returned" to the collection, ready for someone else to view.


Downloading E-Books:

Some books may be downloaded to your personal computer for offline reading or transferred to select portable devices. You will see a Check Out & Download this eBook link on the e-book Details page if the title is available for downloading. The check out period is one week. Printing:

You are allowed to print a limited number of pages of an e-book by clicking the Print button located at the top of the online reader.

Substantial printing of an e-book violates copyright laws. If netLibrary detects excessive printing or copying, it sends the user a copyright warning.
