This page describes and links to electronic resources that can be accessed within the State Library, and in some cases, remotely. Some remote access resources are only available to State Library authorized users (state employees and Thomas Edison staff and students). The databases are arranged alphabetically by name. Use the links below to view specific sections of the list.

All users are expected to respect the intellectual property rights of licensed material. Failure to do so will result in loss of access.

Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs   
Produced by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education, this database contains programs that are, or were, "accredited by an accrediting agency or state approval agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a 'reliable authority as to the quality of postsecondary education.'”
 
Directory of Published Conference Proceedings   
A searchable index of published material from conferences, congresses, meetings and symposia from 1965 to the present.
 
DOE Information Bridge   
Access to full text DOE research and  development reports in physics, chemistry, materials, biology, environmental sciences, energy technologies, engineering, computer and information science, renewable energy, and other topics.
 
EBSCO Animals   remote access for authorized users
Provides in-depth information on a variety of topics relating to animals. The database consists of indexing, abstracts, and full text records describing the nature and habitat of familiar animals.
 
EBSCOhost   remote access for authorized users
A collection of databases including: Academic Search Premier, Masterfile Premier, Health Source, Business Source Premier, Newspaper Source and many others. Provides indexing, abstracting and many full text articles. Also available in three foreign language interfaces: French, German and Spanish.

EconData.Net    
Guide to regional economic activity on the Web. Links to over 400 socioeconomic data sources arranged by subject and provider. Includes access tools to multiple data series, statistical compendia, search engines, regional analyses, socioeconomic forecasts, and mapping resources and more.
 
EDGAR   
Database of publicly available filings submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission from January 1994 to the present.
 
Ellis Island Passenger Records   
A searchable archive of over 22 million passengers and crew that passed through Ellis Island between 1892 and 1924.
 
Encyclopaedia Britannica Online-Academic Edition   remote access for authorized users

Search articles within the Encyclopædia Britannica, as well as thousands of primary sources, and a daily news archive offering current events coverage. Includes links to web sites selected, rated, and reviewed by Britannica editors, timelines, notable quotations, a video collection, world atlas, World Data Analyst Online, Gateway to the Classics, plus Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus

 
Energy Citations Database   
Developed by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI). Energy Citations contains bibliographic records for energy and energy-related scientific and technical information from the Department of Energy (DOE) and its predecessor agencies. It includes bibliographic records of literature in disciplines of interest to DOE such as chemistry, physics, materials, environmental science, geology, engineering, mathematics, climatology, oceanography, computer science and related disciplines. It includes citations to report literature, conference papers, journal articles, books, dissertations, and patents. Covers 1948 through the present.
 
EnergyFiles   
A virtual library of energy science and technology.  The DOE  Information Bridge with full-text DOE reports is available at this site.
 
ERIC   remote access for authorized users
Provides citation and abstract information from over 750 educational journals and related documents from the Educational Resource Information Center and educational report literature dating back to 1967.  Includes full text of ED documents from 1996 on.
 
ERIC - Institute of Education Sciences   
The new ERIC online system, released September 2004, includes over 1.1 million citations going back to 1966. More than 107,000 full-text non-journal documents issued from 1993 on are available for free.
 
ETOH Archival Database   
An archival database of alcohol-related research information containing over 130,000 records on alcohol abuse and alcoholism.  Coverage from 1972-2003, with some older historical literature included.
 
Exempt Organization Search-Publication 78   
Searchable IRS database of tax exempt organizations.  The electronic version of  Publication 78: Cumulative List of Organizations.
 
Expanded Academic ASAP   remote access for authorized users
A comprehensive database covering all academic disciplines. Access scholarly journals, news magazines, and newspapers - many with full text and images. Coverage: 1980 to the present.
 
FDsys   

The Federal Digital System (FDsys) provides public access to government information submitted by Congress and Federal agencies.  Collections currently available include: Compilation of Presidential Documents (1993 to present), Congressional Bills (103rd Congress to present), Congressional Documents (104th Congress to present), Congressional Hearings (105th Congress to present), Congressional Record (1994 to present), Congressional Reports (104th Congress to present), Federal Register (1994 to present) and Public and Private Laws (104th Congress to present).  Over 154,000 documents are currently accessible.  Additional documents are added daily. 

 
FedBizOpps   
Single source for federal government procurement opportunities over $25,000.  To search without solicitation number by using keywords and or classification codes click on Find Business Opportunity under FBO for Vendors.
 
Federal Register   
The official daily publication for rules, proposed rules, and notices of Federal agencies and organizations, as well as executive orders and other presidential documents.
 
Federal Research & Development (R&D) Project Summaries   
Portal to information about Federal research projects complete with full text single query searching across databases residing at different agencies. Current contributing agencies are the Department of Energy, National Institutes of Health, and the National Science Foundation.
 
FindArticles.com   
This site offers free access to the full text of articles published in over 350 magazines and journals dating from 1998. The database can be searched by subject category and by keyword.
 
First Research   remote access for authorized users
Provides industry reports which offer a broad overview of the sector and highlight developments, trends, challenges, opportunities, forecasts and financial information. Includes state profiles which deliver industry and economic insight, and employment and real estate trends for each state.
 
Foundation Directory Online Professional   no remote access
Provides detailed information on 80,000 U.S. foundations, corporate giving programs, and grantmaking public charities, with links to current foundation 990-PF tax returns. The grants awarded database gives details on over 500,000 grants, including the purpose, amount, and recipient. Updated weekly.
 
Foundation Finder   
Search by name for basic information about foundations within the universe of more than 57,000 private and community foundations in the U.S.
 
Foundation Grants to Individuals Online   no remote access

A Foundation Center database which provides detailed descriptions of more than 6,000 foundation and public charity programs that fund students, artists, researchers, and other individual grantseekers. Foundation Grants to Individuals Online is updated quarterly.

 
Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia   remote access for authorized users
Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries. Searchable by subject or keywords within the entry.
