LSTA Grants by Congressional District
District 1

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is a federal agency that administers the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) by annually awarding grants to State Library agencies who distribute LSTA funds within their states. LSTA's priorities are to improve electronic linkages for libraries and to target services to persons having difficulty using a library. Each year the New Jersey State Library receives approximately $3.8 million in LSTA funding.

FY 2002

Camden County Library. Literacy Program $20,000. Tutoring and programs that meet the literacy and ESL needs of adults and families.

Collingswood Public Library. IOLS Implementation Program. $15,000 Matching grant to share the Camden County Library’s integrated online catalog and circulation control system.

Gloucester City Public Library. IOLS Implementation Program. $15,000 Matching grant to share the Camden County Library’s integrated online catalog and circulation control system.

Monroe Twp Free Public Library. Web Based Online Catalogs. $5,940 Purchased technology to promote statewide resource sharing of library materials.

South Jersey Regional Library Cooperative (Gibbsboro). Q and A NJ Project $200,000. Interactive, real time reference service combining internet chat with the ability of librarians to send web sites and other electronic information directly to the customer’s PC. 33 libraries participating in providing the service.

FY 2001

Monroe Twp Free Public Library. Web Based Online Catalogs. $5,940. Purchased technology to promote statewide resource sharing of library materials.

South Jersey Regional Library Cooperative. Q and A NJ Project. $132,000. Interactive, real time reference service combining internet chat with the ability of librarians to send web sites and other electronic information directly to the customer's PC.

FY 2000

Camden County Library. Hub Library Network. $31,850. Serves as Hub Library providing public libraries in area with free Internet access and technical assistance.

Camden County Library. Literacy Program. $19,424. Tutoring and programs that meet the literacy and ESL needs of adults and families.

Camden County Library. Services to People with Disabilities. $15,000. Purchased adaptive technology and provided services and programs to persons with vision, hearing or learning disabilities.

West Deptford Public Library. Computer Training Center. $14,292. Installed training center to provide free hands-on computer training for the public to search the Internet and use business application software.

West Deptford Public Library. E-Books Pilot Project. Awarded five electronic book readers and $1,250 for E-Books.

West Deptford Public Library. Services to Children and Young Adults. $10,000. After-school Homework Center for students ages 11-18.

FY 1999

Camden County Library. Hub Library Network. $46,000. Serves as Hub Library providing public libraries in area with free Internet access and technical assistance.

Camden County Library. Literacy Program. $19,424. Tutoring and programs that meet the literacy and ESL needs of adults and families.

Camden Free Public Library. Services to Special Populations. $9,903. Purchased Spanish language materials for Hispanic community.

FY 1998

Camden County Library. Hub Library Network. $46,000. Serves as Hub Library providing public libraries in area with free Internet access and technical assistance.

FY 1997

Camden Free Public Library. Services to Special Populations. $9,827. Purchased Vietnamese language and English as a Second Language materials.

Pennsauken Free Public Library. Public and School Library Cooperation. $10,000. Libraries shared electronic resources and online databases.

District 1 Libraries. Internet Access PCs. $17,250. The following seven libraries were awarded contracts to purchase Internet access PCs: Collingswood, Gibbstown, Gloucester City, Monroe Twp, Pennsauken, West Deptford, Woodbury.
