LSTA Grants by Congressional District
District 11

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is a federal agency that administers the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) by annually awarding grants to State Library agencies who distribute LSTA funds within their states. LSTA's priorities are to improve electronic linkages for libraries and to target services to persons having difficulty using a library. Each year the New Jersey State Library receives approximately $3.8 million in LSTA funding.

FY 2002

Bloomingdale Public Library. IOLS Implementation Program $15,000. Matching grant program to join the PALS PLUS consortium’s integrated online catalog and circulation control system services.

FY 2001

Livingston - Ruth L. Rockwood Memorial Library. Services to Special Populations. $10,000. ESL program for Asians and other immigrant populations using LVA tutors.

Mendham Free Public Library. Services to Special Populations. $10,000. Presented job skills workshops on resume writing, interviewing, finding jobs and resume software.

Roseland Public Library. Web Based Online Catalogs. $23,250. Purchased technology to promote statewide resource sharing of library materials.

FY 2000

Drew University Library. Web Based Online Catalogs. $20,394. Purchased technology to promote statewide resource sharing of library materials.

Kinnelon Public Library. E-Books Pilot Project. Awarded five electronic book readers and $1,250 for E-Books.

M.A.I.N. Inc.: Morris Automation Information Network. Hub Library Network. $46,779. Serves as Hub Library providing public libraries in area with free Internet access and technical assistance.

Montville Public Library. Services to Children and Young Adults. $10,000. Services for children having difficulty using the library.

Mount Olive Public Library. Services to Children and Young Adults. $10,000. After-school Teen Homework and Computing Center.

Pequannock Public Library. E-Books Pilot Project. Awarded five electronic book readers and $1,250 for E-Books.

Raritan Valley Community College Learning Resources Center. Hub Library Network. $39,189. Serves as Hub Library providing public libraries in area with free Internet access and technical assistance.

Rockaway Township Public Library. Computer Training Center. $20,000. Installed training center to provide free hands-on computer training for the public to search the Internet and use business application software.

Sparta Public Library. Computer Training Center. $20,000. Installed training center to provide free hands-on computer training for the public to search the Internet and use business application software.

Sparta Public Library. Web Based Online Catalogs. $3,500. Purchased technology to promote statewide resource sharing of library materials.

FY 1999

M.A.I.N. Inc.: Morris Automation Information Network. Hub Library Network. $62,000. Serves as Hub Library providing public libraries in area with free Internet access and technical assistance.

FY 1997

Caldwell College. Academic Library Resources Sharing Program. $25,000. Developed coordinated collection development and resource sharing among 36 participating members of the Council of New Jersey College and University Library Directors.

Madison Public Library. Services to Special Populations. $10,000. Purchased Spanish language collection on employment, family, education and health.

District 11 Libraries. Internet Access PCs. $63,855. The following twenty-seven libraries were awarded contracts to purchase Internet access PCs: Bernards Twp., Chathams, Chester, Denville, Dover, East Hanover, Fairfield, Florham Park, Hanover Twp., Lincoln Park, Livingston, Long Hill Twp., Madison, Mendham Boro., Mendham Twp., Millburn, Montville, Morristown & Morris Twp., Mt. Olive, Mountain Lakes, Pequannock Twp., Randolph Twp., Raritan, Somerville, Sparta, Washington Twp., West Caldwell.
