LSTA Grants by Congressional District
District 12

The Institute of Museum and Library Services is a federal agency that administers the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) by annually awarding grants to State Library agencies who distribute LSTA funds within their states. LSTA's priorities are to improve electronic linkages for libraries and to target services to persons having difficulty using a library. Each year the New Jersey State Library receives approximately $3.8 million in LSTA funding.

FY 2002

Central Jersey Regional Library Cooperative (Freehold). Statewide Recruitment of Professional Librarians $32,000. Administering an ongoing statewide recruitment program for professional librarians to meet the pressing need for librarians in the state.

Central Jersey Regional Library Cooperative (Freehold). New Jersey Leadership Program $15,000. Manages a statewide Leadership Academy for all types of libraries.

FY 2001

Bernardsville Public Library. Services to Special Population. $9,263. ESL, family literacy and homework assistance program for South American immigrant community.

Bernardsville Public Library. Web Based Online Catalogs. $25,000. Purchased technology to promote statewide resource sharing of library materials.

Central Jersey Regional Library Cooperative (Freehold). Statewide Recruitment for Professional Librarians. $5,150. Developed a statewide recruitment program.

Central Jersey Regional Library Cooperative (Freehold). New Jersey Leadership Program. $4,500. Manages a statewide leadership program for all types of libraries.

East Brunswick Public Library. Services to Special Populations. $10,000. Computer classes to teach Internet searching and job skills to new immigrants.

Flemington Public Library. Web Based Online Catalogs. $8,886. Purchased technology to promote statewide resource sharing of library materials.

Mercer County Library. Web Based Online Catalogs. $29,900. Purchased technology to promote statewide resource sharing of library materials. System is shared with the Mercer County Community College in West Windsor.

Monmouth County Library. Hub Library Network. $46,000. Serves as Hub Library providing public libraries in area with free Internet access and technical assistance.

Princeton Public Library. Services to Special Populations. $10,000. Outreach to Latin American community through cultural and informational programs, Internet training in Spanish.

Princeton Public Library. Web Based Online Catalogs. $18,950. Purchased technology to promote statewide resource sharing of library materials.

Princeton University Libraries. Tapeload of Bibliographic Records. $15,000. Purchased RLIN records for titles cataloged during the year to be downloaded into the OCLC database.

South Brunswick Public Library. Services to Special Populations. $10,000. Purchased materials in Arabic and Urdu and presented cultural programming.

FY 2000

East Brunswick Public Library. Services to Children and Young Adults. $10,000. Services for children with mental and physical disabilities.

East Brunswick Public Library. Web Based Online Catalogs. $26,020. Purchased technology to promote statewide resource sharing of library materials.

Hunterdon County Library. E-Books Pilot Project. Awarded ten electronic book readers and $2,500 for E-Books.

Mercer County Community College. Services to People with Disabilities. $14,988. Purchased adaptive technology and provided services and programs to persons with vision, hearing or learning disabilities.

Monmouth County Library. Hub Library Network. $46,000. Serves as Hub Library providing public libraries in area with free Internet access and technical assistance.

Monroe Township Public Library. Services to Children and Young Adults. $10,000. Services for children having difficulty using the library.

Monroe Township Public Library. Services to People with Disabilities. $8,919. Purchased adaptive technology and provided services and programs to persons with vision, hearing or learning disabilities.

Plainsboro Free Public Library. E-Books Pilot Project. Awarded five electronic book readers and $1,250 for E-Books.

Princeton Public Library. E-Books pilot project. Awarded six electronic book readers and $1,500 for E-Books.

FY 1999

East Brunswick Public Library. Computer Training Center. $20,000. Installed training center to provide free hands-on computer training for the public to search the Internet and use business application software.

East Brunswick Public Library. Services to Special Populations. $10,000. Produced video tapes in Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Korean and Russian that provided an overview of library and municipal services.

Monmouth County Library. Hub Library Network. $54,000. Serves as Hub Library to providing public libraries in area with free Internet access and technical assistance.

Princeton University Libraries. Tapeload of Bibliographic Records. $15,000. Purchased RLIN records for titles cataloged during the year to be downloaded into the OCLC database.

Hunterdon Developmental Center. Institutional Library Services. $9,997. Established or improved library services for persons in state institutions.

Princeton University Libraries. Tapeload of Bibliographic Records. $15,000. Purchased RLIN records for titles cataloged during the year to be downloaded into the OCLC database.

District 12 Libraries. Internet Access PCs. $27,000. The following eleven libraries were awarded contracts to purchase Internet access PCs: Bedminster, Bernardsville, East Brunswick, Flemington, Florence Twp., Freehold, Holland Twp., Lambertville, Pennington, South Brunswick, West Long Branch.
