Something fishy at WDFPL

Join us for Family Days at the West Deptford Free Public Library, 420 Crown Point Road, West Deptford, NJ at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 6 for “Let’s See What’s Under the Sea; Something’s Fishy.”* Illustrator Steven James Petruccio presents an undersea mystery! Your job is to work with the illustrator to create a sketch of the sea-suspect by reading character descriptions in a manuscript and looking at visual clues in original illustrations. Creativity will be crucial in finding the fishy fiend! Observation and imagination is the key to solving this visual problem. Registration requested. Riverdale Public Library Welcomes New Director

The Riverdale Public Library welcomes Carol Heinz to the position of director. A resident of Ridgewood, NJ, originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Heinz has a BA in Art from Cleveland State University, and an Ohio K-12 teaching certificate in Art. She earned a MS in Library Science from Long Island University and ran a successful children’s department both at Mahwah Public Library and at Franklin Lakes Library. Heinz attained a Nonprofit Leadership Certificate, and successfully completed training in Small Business Management. “The Board of Trustees is very pleased to welcome Carol as our new director,” notes Riverdale Library trustee president Larry Feld, adding “Carol brings with her a rare combination of strong patron relations and organizational management skills. Committing to Murder

Atlantic County Library System/Mays Landing hosts Committing to Murder, a murder mystery game, on Tuesday, August 17, from 5:30 pm until 9 pm. The free event is open to adults. Registration and audience participation is required. The program is cosponsored with the Atlantic County Division of Parks and Recreation. The murder mystery party game has a 1920’s gangster theme and is loosely based on Chicago and New York gangsters, their rivalries, speakeasies and love lives. Renewable Energy: Present and Future

Atlantic County Library System/Brigantine hosts Rick Dovey, President of the Atlantic County Utilities Authority, speaking on Renewable Energy: Present and Future on Wednesday, August 18 at 6 pm. The free program is open to adults. Renewable energy sources provide about 7% of the energy used in the United States. History of the Jersey Shore

Atlantic County Library System/Ventnor presents The History of the Jersey Shore on Wednesday, August 18 at 6:30 pm. The free event is open to adults, and registration is required. Kevin Woyce, author of Jersey Shore History and Facts gives a colorful tour of shipwrecks, lighthouses, the first seaside resorts and today’s most popular boardwalks.
