Library Network NewsNews ItemJul 23, 2010Riverdale Public Library Welcomes New DirectorThe Riverdale Public Library welcomes Carol Heinz to the position of director. A resident of Ridgewood, NJ, originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Heinz has a BA in Art from Cleveland State University, and an Ohio K-12 teaching certificate in Art. She earned a MS in Library Science from Long Island University and ran a successful children’s department both at Mahwah Public Library and at Franklin Lakes Library. Heinz attained a Nonprofit Leadership Certificate, and successfully completed training in Small Business Management. “The Board of Trustees is very pleased to welcome Carol as our new director,” notes Riverdale Library trustee president Larry Feld, adding “Carol brings with her a rare combination of strong patron relations and organizational management skills. Our search drew many qualified candidates; however, few possessed both the hands-on experience and passion for helping people that Carol exudes.” Carol Heinz replaces Abby Sanner, the library’s first full time director, who resigned in May after eight years in Riverdale to accept a position in a larger Bergen County library. “I am looking forward to working as the Director at Riverdale Public Library. I hope to continue as well as improve the community’s satisfaction with what the library offers, and to remind readers of the wonders that books provide, while embracing technology” states Heinz. Carol is asking patrons to stop by and say, “Hello,” so she may get to know people better in the coming months. |
