Moeller-Peiffer cited for public library experience
in New Jersey and beyond.

Kathleen Moeller-Peiffer, new Director of Library Development Bureau for the
New Jersey State Library
TRENTON , N.J. - The
New Jersey State Library is pleased to announce the selection of Kathleen
Moeller-Peiffer as Associate State Librarian and Director of the New
Jersey Library Development Bureau by State Librarian Norma E. Blake.
Moeller-Peiffer has served as Deputy Director of LDB
and Grants Manager since 2003. During that time she oversaw the administration
of Library Services and Technology Act for the NJSL, wrote and administered
Gates Library Foundation grants and oversaw all grants administered by LDB
to local libraries. Among other duties, she has also been the liaison to two
regional library cooperatives and served on the State Library’s Strategic
Planning Committee and its Building Committee. In addition she has been
a member of the New York Times Librarian of the Year Award Committee
since 2005.
In commenting on her selection of Moeller-Peiffer,
Blake said, “Kathi is the perfect choice for Director of the Library
Development Bureau at this point in the development of the New Jersey State
Library and NJ libraries.
Before coming to NJSL, Moeller-Peiffer served as Library
Systems Manager for the Durham County Public Library as well as County Librarian
for the Orange County Public Library, both in North Carolina. During
her career she has also consulted and served as a volunteer with special and
school libraries. Moeller-Peiffer has been an active member of the American
Library Association since 1977 and a member of the New Jersey Library Association
since 2003.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina,
Moeller-Peiffer received her Masters of Library Science from Florida State
University. In her new position, Moeller-Peiffer follows Jeffrey A. Kesper,
who retired from the NJSL on March 31, 2007.
As the new LDB Director, Moeller-Peiffer reflected
on her appointment, “I look forward to continuing to work with the excellent
staff of the Library Development Bureau and the State Library, as well as my
colleagues in New Jersey libraries, to bring outstanding services to New Jersey
residents and recognition to library staff for their dedication in serving
their communities’ informational, recreational and educational needs.”
