Members
support libraries with local history collection maintenance,
archival and preservation needs and advocate for
funding for projects. All types of preservation
issues are addressed through workshops and programs. Your
membership is encouraged and is free to NJLA members!
Princeton Preservation Group
Sponsors
lectures on a wide range of topic relating to the
preservation of cultural artifacts, including but
not limited to books, manuscripts, artwork, furniture,
photographs, tombstones, Lucy the Elephant, costumes,
videotapes, and buildings. Group members include
conservators, librarians, archivists, curators,
historic preservation specialists, and interested
others. Anyone may join.
Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC)
Begun
in 1972, MARAC is a volunteer, regional consortium
of archivists who live and work in the states of New York,
New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and
West Virginia, and in the District of Columbia.
Regional Alliance for Preservation
Provides
information and resources on preservation and conservation
for cultural institutions and the public throughout the United
States.
Delaware Valley Archivists Group
A
professional association for archivists, archives workers
and archives students in the greater Philadelphia area
with members in southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware
and southern New Jersey.
Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums
A
not for profit membership organization founded in 1945, that provides museums
professionals, organizations, institutions and museum service providers a forum
to enhance the image of museums and educate individuals on a array of field
specific study and programs. It chiefly represents museum interests in Delaware,
the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
PALINET
PALINET
is a cooperative membership organization of hundreds
of libraries, information
centers, museums, archives, and other similar organizations throughout Delaware,
Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and beyond. Since 1936, they
have promoted library cooperation and resource sharing, a role growing more
important as global technology escalates the pace of information transfer.
Solinet
The
Southeastern Library Network is a not-for-profit library cooperative
that works in collaboration with many local and international
partners. The mission of their Preservation
Services is to improve institutions' abilities to maintain long-term,
cost-effective access to information resources in both traditional
and networked collections. Their Field Services program
has been providing education, training, information, and consulting
to cultural institutions since 1984.
New Jersey Strategic Historical Records Advisory Board (NJ SHRAB)
Statewide board of archivists that meet to determine policy and planning for statewide collections of historical records. They have offered excellent programming on archives and preservation for a very modest cost.
