New Jersey Libraries September Project

On December 18, 2001, Congress designated September 11th
as “Patriot Day,” a day of remembrance.

The New Jersey State Library invites New Jersey libraries to participate in the September Project, a collection of individuals and organizations working to create a day of engagement, a day of conversation, a day of democracy.

We believe that there can be no more fitting tribute, no more appropriate commemoration of September 11th, than for libraries all over the state to simply be there doing business as usual: facilitating communication, fostering citizenship, promoting understanding, guaranteeing freedom of access to information, and above all, standing with doors wide open as a remarkable symbol of our freedom.

All libraries are invited to get involved,
but participation is voluntary.

Libraries that choose to participate in hosting events on September 11th, are asked to contact Peggy Cadigan at the State Library (609-292-4161; pcadigan@njstatelib.org). She will post the name of the library and the contact person on the State Library website, so that libraries can contact each other and share ideas.
