Reference Services for the Blind, Deaf and Learning Disabled

New Jersey Library for the Blind and Handicapped

Scope: The New Jersey Library for the Blind and Handicapped serves all New Jersey residents who can not read a conventional print book because of a visual impairment, learning disability or physical disability.

Reference service covers such subjects as: blindness, visual impairments, independent living skills, the Americans With Disabilities Act, deafness, deaf culture, sign language, legal rights, telecommunication, parenting, learning disabilities, education for the learning disabled.

Collection includes books, videotapes, periodicals, vertical file information and assistive devices.

Additional services

Audiovision: NJLBH provides a radio reading service to central and southern portions of New Jersey. Audiovision airs the reading of daily newspapers for eleven hours a day, five days a week. The Library provides the reader with the radio receiver free of charge.
