5 Washington Street, PO Box 630, Newark, NJ 07101-0630 New Jersey State LibraryScope:Jerseyana - books, both fiction and nonfiction, doctoral dissertations, county planning board studies, maps, postcards, pictures, newspaper clippings from mid-1960s to 1989 on New Jersey topics, periodical indexing to NJ articles in NJ magazines, circa 1952-1986. Genealogy collection - county and local histories, genealogical guide books, published genealogies, passenger lists and master indexes, census records, city directories, heraldry information. Focus is on New Jersey, but collection also includes all 49 other states and many foreign countries. Our computer catalog has numerous additional family names added as subject entries for most of the New Jersey genealogies and local histories. NOTE: Genealogy materials do not circulate. New Jersey maps - a large collection of maps and atlases of New Jersey and parts thereof from the 1600s to the present. Mostly in paper although the Sanborn Insurance maps are on two sets of microfilm. The map collection is currently in a late phase of a recataloging project so that all maps will be easily locatable via the online catalog. NOTE: maps and atlases do not circulate. Encapsulated atlases and original atlases cannot be photocopied. New Jersey Government Publications - official depository for NJ state government publications.
