Call a local reporter We know that there are seldom extra hours in the day to call reporters but sometimes all it takes is just one or two phones calls. Choose a reporter from a weekly newspaper and one from a daily paper. Share the word with your Participants Often the most effective communication with the public is word of mouth from those who benefit directly from your programs. Make sure you take the time to tell them how the NJSL has helped with the funding to support the Small and Rural Sustainability Program for your patrons. INVITE NJSL TO Share the word at your programs Better yet, give us a call and we ll see if we can get someone from NJSL to tell participants personally! Here are some suggestions for other ways that you can help inform people about your library s program product or service funded through the NJSL. Become a Radio Star! Does your local radio station still conduct morning interviews or  Community Spots ? Why not call the station and get a spot to let the public know about upcoming events? Be sure to include that you have this great program thanks to the funding from the New Jersey State Library! Write an article in your newletter Include this partnership in your Annual report Write that Editorial! Use this as the chance to write that editorial you ve wanted to write for your local newspaper. Highlight your organization s service to the community and include how funding allocated for the program came from the New Jersey State Library through a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in collaboration with WebJunction. In order to evaluate our partnerships, the NJSL requests that you include a final report outlining your publicity efforts within a month of the end of your project. Help the New Jersey State Library tell your story by submitting photos that document how the Small and Rural Sustainability Program has benefited New Jersey, its residents and even library staff. Photos are accepted in digital or hard copy, with a preference toward digital. All photos must be accompanied with the necessary NJSL photo release form that will allow the NJSL to publish the images at its discretion. We ve included one for you to copy. Children under the age of 18 must have the written consent of a parent of legal guardian. Photos will not be returned. Photographs Photos must be no larger than 8*10 inches. Include caption on separate sheet of paper. But why stop there? The possibilities are endless. Here are a few suggestions. Rather than just putting the NJSL logo on your web site, why not create a link back to our website, www.njstatelib.org? Keep in mind that whenever possible display the NJSL logo with the acknowledgment for greater impact. Public Events: You could include the NJSL logo on signage or mention us as you network and have public presentations. Press Events: Include the written acknowledgement in your press releases and please remember us when you re talking to reporters! Web Sites : Post our logo and link back to njstatelib.org. Printed Materials: Use the NJSL logo and written acknowledgment. Don t forget to include it on PowerPoint presentations and evaluation forms.
