- NACo
- The National Association of Counties maintains a comprehensive database of information on counties, including a listing of county officials and links to nationwide county statistics and county policies, codes, ordinances and model programs.

- Research project from the Urban Institute including reports and statistics analyzing the devolution of responsibility for social programs from the federal government to the states, focusing primarily on health care, income security, job training, and social services.
