Receiving their bachelor’s degrees from Thomas Edison State College through the New Jersey State Library administered 2006 IMLS Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program were, clockwise from upper right: Elias Vazquez of Brick, Senior Library Assistant, Ocean County Library System, Mays Landing Branch; Sandra Jones of Atlantic City, Library Associate, Atlantic County Library System, Pleasantville Branch; Aurelia Rodriguez of Newark, Library Assistant, Newark Public Library; and Violet Valentin of Paulsboro, Library Director, Gill Memorial Library. Offering his congratulations to the group was Todd Siben, TESC advisor.
Vazquez also received an Arnold Fletcher Award which recognizes Thomas Edison State College baccalaureate graduates for exceptional achievement in nontraditional learning. Students selected for this award have demonstrated excellence and earned a large number of credits using one or more of the innovative learning modes developed and/or recognized by the College. The award is named in honor of Dr. Arnold Fletcher, who served as vice president for Academic Affairs at Thomas Edison State College from 1973 – 1983.
