The New Jersey State Library, with funding from the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS), has awarded a $10,000 grant to the Elizabeth Public Library for a Latino Heritage Festival.

Liz Burns, youth services consultant for the New Jersey State Library Talking Book & Braille Center, served as a member of a distinguished committee which selected the the best nonfiction book for teens from a select group of finalists.

Library Journal’s fourth national rating of public libraries, the LJ Index of Public library Service 2011, in the Nov. 1, 2011 edition,  identified 262 Star libraries, which included six from New Jersey.

At the 37th Annual JASPER Awards presentation of the Jersey Shore Public Relations & Advertising Association, the NJ State Library received three awards for excellence in the Special Purpose Print Material categories.

The New Jersey State Library announced that four New Jersey libraries were selected to receive Best Practices in Marketing Awards for programs they developed and promoted to aid job seekers or small businesses. Each library received a $1000 award and plaque.

Sharon Rawlins, Youth Services Consultant for the New Jersey State Library for the past four years, has been honored by the Board of Directors of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the American Library Association, for her dedication and loyalty to New Jersey libraries, YALSA, the American Library Association, and the children and teens of New Jersey.
