NJ State Library Recognized for Excellence by Public Relations Society
The New Jersey State Library was recognized for excellence in public relations by the New Jersey Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America at its 21st annual Pyramid Awards reception on June 15 at the Basking Ridge Country Club. The library received a Pyramid Award for its statewide NJ Library Champions awareness campaign and an award for its “Connecting People with Information through Libraries” brochure.

The awards were presented to Nancy Dowd, State Library director of marketing, and Gary Cooper, public relations and media contact.
“The 2011 PRSA NJ Pyramid Awards highlighted some of the world's best campaigns proving that New Jersey PR professionals are truly excelling in the industry,” said Rich Lukis, president of PRSA NJ.
The State Library’s campaign featured 16 celebrities promoting the value of libraries as transformative forces in people’s lives, and was supported by over 700 public and school libraries.
“We are so honored to receive these awards,” said Dowd. “For us to be recognized by PRSA/NJ when most of the other winners were large agencies, validates all the effort we put into bringing marketing concepts to our libraries and showing the value of libraries to our elected officials.”
