NJ State Library Hosts Program on Writing Grant Proposals
On October 21, 62 representatives from nonprofits across New Jersey visited the New Jersey State Library to learn about the basics of grant proposal writing.

The detailed and informative session was taught by Inés Sucre, Reference and Outreach Librarian at the Foundation Center, a nonprofit headquartered in New York City whose mission is “…to strengthen the nonprofit sector by advancing knowledge about U.S. philanthropy.”
Attendees learned how the proposal fits into the overall grant-seeking process, what to include in a standard proposal to a foundation, and how to communicate with funders during the grant process. The session also included an overview of the Foundation Center’s premier resources for identifying and researching grant-makers, Foundation Directory Online Professional and Philanthropy In/Sight, both of which are available for visitors of the New Jersey State Library to use for free on site.
