General Reference

Collections

The general reference collection focuses on current materials in areas of interest to state government. Primary subjects include education, business, public and governmental affairs, health, statistics and biographical information. Resources are in print and eBook format. Print materials do not circulate. Anyone can search the Library’s holdings using the online catalog.

Test preparation books for civil service exams are also available. Test books may be borrowed for two weeks by State Library registered borrowers. They do not circulate to other libraries.


Electronic Resources

The State Library offers online access to full-text, statistical and bibliographic resources covering most subject areas.  For more information, visit the the Electronic Resources page . All databases are available onsite in the Library; most are available remotely for State Library authorized users.


Services

Library staff provide extensive reference and information service to State employees and Thomas Edison State University (TESU) staff and students. Limited reference services are available to the general public.  Books and journal articles not available through the State Library’s collections may be requested through interlibrary loan.  Reference librarians have compiled Research Guides on selected topics. On-site assistance is extended to all users of the library, including the general public. Computers, microfilm/fiche reader-printers and photocopiers are available.


Location

The collection is primarily located on Level 4 of the library.
