A hospital and library in Norwich, Connecticut are using Twitter to keep in touch with their customers.
“The William W. Backus Hospital and the Otis Library are using an instant messaging service known as Twitter. The Internet-based system sends messages containing up to only 140 characters, throwing down a challenge to the verbose everywhere.”
Twitter joins a growing stable of media at Backus that include podcasts, videos and Flash ads alongside mainstay printed paper documents
Otis Library is using Twitter to drive people to its reference and young adult offerings. Sending a library “link of the day” is something Library Director Richard Farwell finds appealing.
“I think it’s great,” Farwell said. “We’re always looking for new ways to reach the audience and the shorter the better.”
