Publicity and Acknowledgement Guidelines for Grantees

In an effort to help NJ libraries increase visibility within their communities, the New Jersey State Library has developed the following Publicity and Acknowledgment Guidelines. If your library has received funding from NJSL for a program, product or service, please refer to the following NJSL acknowledgment requirements.

General Written and Verbal Acknowledgment:

You must include an acknowledgment of NJSL & IMLS support in all grant products, publications, and websites developed with State Library funding. Acknowledgment should include an official credit line, as well as the NJSL & IMLS logos, where space permits. This includes all print and electronic marketing materials, press releases, website references, and any other forms of written and verbal publicity.

When to use acknowledgements:

Please include the acknowledgement on all printed promotional materials, newsletter articles, Web site posts and media releases. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Press Releases: The NJSL boilerplate and logo should be used in your press releases.
  • Public Events: At programs or public gatherings related to your award, acknowledge NJSL orally. Display the logo on signage at events. Don’t forget to include the logos and statement on PowerPoint presentations and evaluation forms.
  • Press Events: NJSL support should be orally acknowledged during all news media interviews, including radio, television, and press conferences.
  • Web Sites : Post the NJSL logo and acknowledgement statement, and link back to
  • Printed Materials: Use the logos and acknowledgment statement.
  • Advertisements: Use the logos and acknowledgment statement.
  • Public Service Announcements: Include acknowledgement statement at the end of your PSA.
  • Social Media: If you post about the State Library-funded project, be sure to include @njstatelibrary in your tweets and on your Facebook page.

Current Grant Programs

Fade To Books

The New Jersey State Library, in partnership with the Long Branch Public Library and the Bridge of Books Foundation, launched a grant opportunity for public libraries who join with their local barbershops in an effort to promote youth literacy in their communities. Begun as a pilot project in Long Branch, Fade to Books recognizes the role of the barbershop as a community gathering space and the role of the barber as a mentoring figure for young men and boys.

In addition to the above attribution guidelines, the Bridge of Books Foundation logo is also available for use when publicizing this program:
