January 14-Author talk – The Bookshop on Lafayette Street
January 14 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pmFree
Please join us on Tuesday, January 14 from noon to 1 p.m., in the New Jersey State Library Level 2 Reading Room where authors Eric Maywar and Ilene Dube will have an author talk, The Bookshop on Lafayette Street.
Mr. Maywar works in the Trenton area and is an author and editor. He will be talking about the collaboration behind the making of the book, The Bookshop on Lafayette Street: A Collection of Stories and Poems. Ilene Dube will join Eric to read selections from the book.
Written and compiled because of a serendipitous meeting between two of the contributors, this book combines everything you might love about a bookstore: books, a sense of wonder and discovery, the cozy clutter, idiosyncratic book lovers, and the idea of being in a magic haven.
The Classics Bookstore in Trenton inspired the selections in the book. Contributors include a Pullitzer prize-winning poet, columnists, a Dodge poet, artists and a playwright. You’ll find Ilene Dube, Jeff Edelstein, Barry Gross, John Gummere, Yusef Komunyakaa, Doc Long, Eric Maywar, Leon Rainbow, Jackie Reinstedler, Nancy Scott, Thomas Webster, and David Lee White.
Eric Maywar received his Master of Fine Arts from Western Michigan University. He is the author of the novel Running Flat. Eric and his wife own Classics Books and live in Trenton.
Ilene Dube covers the arts scene in Mercer and Bucks counties for The Artful Blogger. Her writing has appeared in Hyperallergic, Sculpture Magazine, Princeton Magazine, and many others. She makes her home in Princeton Junction.
All are welcome to this free event. RSVP is appreciated. Please RSVP to Cindy Warrick at firstname.lastname@example.org or 609-278-2640 ext. 172. For other information on events and lunchtime classes at the State Library visit www.njstatelib.org.
