June 2 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

A spider eating a caterpillar on a leaf

One of the hardest parts of gardening is keeping pests away. If your flower garden suffers from plant eating insects, don’t grab that can of toxic pesticides! Instead, join Lisa Zambito, Rutgers Master Gardener, and learn about beneficial garden bugs – nature’s own pest killers that devour destructive critters. Don’t let their small size fool you though; many of them eat in a manner that brings a horror movie to mind!

Lisa Zambito has been a Rutgers Master Gardener since 2022 and is the manager of a community garden in Lebanon Borough. She also volunteers at the Open Cupboard Food Pantry thrift shop and is a member of the Hunterdon 300 Club, which specializes in the history of Hunterdon County. Her main interest in the gardening world is insects. Lisa has created a watercolor book of beneficial bugs and those considered garden pests to help educate children and adults. She lives in High Bridge with her husband, Tom, and Yorkshire terrier, Smokey.
