Gema de las Heras is a Consumer Education Specialist in the FTC’s Division of Consumer and Business Education, where she works on outreach projects to inform and educate consumers about bad business practices and ways to detect and avoid fraud. She also writes consumer alerts on topics such as identity theft and the latest twists on scams. Gema has over 18 years of experience working in roles that focus on consumer education. Prior to joining the FTC, Gema worked as a Television Producer with Univision 41 News, and later as a Public Information Officer with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.

Ari Lazarus is a Consumer Education Specialist in the FTC’s Division of Consumer and Business Education. He has worked extensively on various education campaigns, including imposter scams, cybersecurity topics, among others. Ari’s outreach work focuses on reaching older adults and college students and sharing tips with them on how to avoid frauds and scams. Prior to coming to the FTC, Ari worked in personal financial management. Ari holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s Degree from Rutgers University.
