Libraries Helping the Gig Economy

The growing “gig economy” is shaping the workforce, not just in the United States but internationally as well.  With no signs of decline in the near future, libraries must start to address the needs of these independent workers, also known as freelancers.  Simple changes in how workspaces are designed in public areas and resources are marketed to independent workers can make all the difference.

This handout provides information about the gig economy, links for learning more, and suggestions for integrating independent workers into existing programs and services.  If you have questions or ideas, please contact Andrea Levandowski.
