Montclair Public Library Becomes Partner Site for Talking Book and Braille Center

Do you know any avid readers that are experiencing a visual or physical impairment that affects their ability to read a printed book? Montclair Public Library is proud to offer Talking Book Audio Players from the National Library Service (NLS) and the New Jersey State Library Talking Book and Braille Center (TBBC). This is a no cost service for people temporarily or permanently affected by low vision, physical impairments, reading disabilities and blindness.

To begin taking advantage of the Talking Book Audio Player Service, all the reader or a caregiver would have to do is contact the Adult Services Department at the Montclair Public Library. Once a reader is signed up for the program, the Adult Services Department will provide them with a Talking Book Audio Player. The player comes with a flash drive loaded with audiobooks of their choosing. Audio magazines and audio newspapers are available as well.

When a reader finishes all the books on the Talking Book Audio Player, they can simply return to MPL with the flashdrive for more books. If they are unable to make it to the library, our free Home Assisted Services (H.A.S.) program or the Talking Book and Braille Center’s free mail-in program can be utilized.

For more information visit: For information about H.A.S., contact Dawn Quinn, Head of Borrower Services, at 973-744-0500 x2280. For information about the mail-in program, contact the New Jersey State Library Talking Book and Braille Center at 1-800-792-8322 ext. 832 or 804.
