State Librarian Jen Nelson is pleased to announce a new competitive grant opportunity – Community Center Digital Connect – that is being offered by the New Jersey State Library. It is funded by the Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund, established by Section 604 of the Social Security Act, as added by Section 9901 of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Though it is managed by the State Library, eligible applicants include Community Centers, full-service Community Schools, Health Centers and Public Libraries.
The purpose of this grant is to enable the construction or improvement of buildings designed to jointly and directly enable work, education, and health monitoring located in communities with critical need for the project. Capital Projects Fund grant funding can also be used for the ancillary costs related to eligible capital projects that are necessary to put the asset to full use. The purpose is to also address needs in communities that were most impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency. Please note: to address the interest of the U.S. Treasury in impacting areas of the state most in need following COVID 19 pandemic, grant applications must propose to serve a community that is listed on the grant guidelines document.
The New Jersey State Library held a Technical Assistance webinar on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 to review the guidelines and application. A recording of the webinar, presentation slides, and more information including the grant guidelines, is available at: www.njstatelib.org/CPF.
