Scholarship for Librarians to Attend ARSL Conference

The Association for Rural & Small Libraries (via a grant from the National Library of Medicine [NLM]) is distributing a $500 scholarship to one librarian in each of the 50 states to help cover travel and registration costs to attend the Stand Up for Health: Health and Wellness Services for Your Community pre-conference at the 2018 Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL) annual fall conference in Springfield, IL. Scholarship recipients are also expected to attend the full ARSL conference.

ARSL has asked each state library to select its own state’s recipient of the $500 ARSL/NLM scholarship.

To encourage attendance, the New Jersey State Library will offer New Jersey’s recipient an additional $500 scholarship.

The pre-conference date is Wednesday, September 12 and the full conference dates are Thursday, September 13 to Saturday, September 15, 2018. Conference information can be found on the ARSL website: https://arsl.info/2018-conference/

One scholarship winner representing New Jersey will be selected from applications received by the New Jersey State Library by 12:00 Noon on Thursday, March 29. The recipient will be selected on or about Thursday, March 29, 2018 and will be notified by Friday, April 6.

The application is a Survey Monkey form at this URL: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GT7QMF6

Priority will be given to first-time ARSL Conference attendees, ARSL members, a library service community population of 10,000 or less, and the strength of the commitment of the applicant to providing health and wellness-related information and programs to its library community.
