Teens from all of New Jersey’s public libraries were invited to create a 30-90 second video with their unique take on the 2018 CSLP summer reading slogan “Libraries Rock!” The teens from West Deptford Public Library won the state contest with their video entitled “On the Down Low.” These creative teens received a cash prize of $100 and the library also received a gift certificate for $50 from Upstart/Demco to purchase summer reading incentives.
In creating these videos highlighting summer reading in public libraries, teens are able to a part of the summer reading process before and during the summer months. This is an opportunity for them to display their creativity and have their videos seen before a national audience of public libraries in states across the nation who participate in the CSLP program.
All US states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, and the Mariana Islands are CSLP members and are eligible to participate in the 2018 Teen Video Challenge (TVC). Each participating state organizes and implements their own competition to choose their state’s TVC winner. You can view all the winning videos from the participating states, islands or territories on the CSLP website.
