Our Favorite Marketing Resources

Aside from this blog (which I hope you love!), there is a wealth of very good marketing resources around the web. If youre eager for more information and a diverse viewpoint, these blogs and experts can provide new ideas and greater understanding of a rapidly changing discipline.

There are several sites that are focused on library marketing (the ALAs section on advocacy, for example), but this list is centered on general marketing resources that you may not be aware of, and theyre ones that I rely upon to stay abreast of the latest trends.

  • Marketingprofs Covers marketing tips and advice from experts. Offers articles, podcasts and more. Mostly free, but there is a paid option for deeper, more detailed content. Sign up for the newsletter, which is free.
  • Content Marketing Institute Best resource for learning about the emerging field of brand journalism or content marketing. Pioneers in this space.
  • Hubspot An online marketing software company that does a great job of using content marketing to promote its services and expertise. Their e-books and how-to guides are excellent primers for inbound marketing.
  • {grow} blog Mark Schaefer is an expert in using social media, especially Twitter and Klout, to market businesses, and many of his lessons can be applied to public libraries.
  • Brian Solis This social media guru has attracted a large following of devotees. His predictions on future trends are worth reading.
  • Web Ink Now David Meerman Scott writes this blog, and case studies are what set it apart from other marketing blogs. He interviews companies big and small, distilling lessons down to bite-size takeaways.
  • ConstantContact Another marketing company that offers good advice while promoting their email marketing services. Good tips here on you guessed it email marketing.
  • TopRankBlog A digital marketing agency with an expertise in search engine optimization, TopRank writes a wide-ranging blog covering content marketing, social media and yes search engine optimization.
