Through our membership, we provide free, onsite access to Candid’s research databases:

Candid Search

Candid Search is a comprehensive source of nonprofit information, combining data from Foundation Directory and GuideStar. Access data on 1.9 million+ nonprofits and 304,000 grantmakers to:

  • Find organizations where you can donate, volunteer, or work
  • Seek out local resources and services, like food banks or shelters
  • Easily find and connect with funders for your nonprofit or project

NJ State Library Research Guides

Training and Webinars

One-on-one tutorials on how to search the Foundation Directory Professional database are available upon request. Contact our Reference Desk to schedule an appointment.

While we welcome visits and reference requests, users must do their own research to find prospective grant sources.

We also provide virtual group classes on grants research, proposal writing, and other nonprofit management topics. Register for classes through our events calendar.

Print Collection

In addition to grant-related databases, the Funding Information Center also has over 1000 print resources including periodicals and books about grant writing, fundraising, and other nonprofit management topics.

Search the Funding Information Center collection on the NJSL’s online catalog.

Collection Policy

Most of the Funding Information Center’s print collection can be checked out onsite at the New Jersey State Library or requested via interlibrary loan through your local library. Some material, like directories, periodicals, and Form 990 aperture cards do not circulate.
