New Jersey Library Network

In 1985 the State Legislature formalized support of shared resources by funding the New Jersey Library Network. The purpose of the Network is to promote efficient and effective cooperation among the various types of libraries in New Jersey so that the State’s residents will have full and equal access to library materials and programs. To achieve this goal the State Library promotes, coordinates and funds cooperative efforts, provides and coordinates library services on a statewide basis, and funds the statewide library cooperative, LibraryLinkNJ. The New Jersey State Library, LibraryLinkNJ and the public, school, academic, institutional, corporate and special libraries and library-related agencies of the state work together to form the New Jersey Library Network.

Funding

Network Aid is provided by the New Jersey Legislature and administered by the New Jersey State Library. It is used to support the programs and services of the New Jersey Library Network. Funds may be used for such activities as delivery of library materials, continuing education, pilot projects, and the licensing of statewide resources, as well as staffing and other operating costs associated with these activities.

Library Network Review Board (LNRB)

LNRB meets at least annually and advises the State Librarian on matters pertaining to necessary or desirable statewide and inter-regional programs or services; and types of interaction and linkage of the New Jersey Library Network with interstate and national library networks. The board is composed of 4 members appointed by LibraryLinkNJ Executive Board and up to four members appointed by the State Librarian. Each member of the library network review board serves for a term of two years, and may be reappointed for a second term.
