Opioid Overdose Prevention Training

The New Jersey State Library is coordinating these informational programs in an effort to facilitate discussion around the topic of opioid overdose and naloxone administration in libraries.   The decision to receive a naloxone kit is solely at the discretion of the individual library.

Free Naloxone Training

Sign up for one of the following free information and training sessions about the life-saving drug NARCAN.

Trainings will cover:

  • How to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose
  • How to administer naloxone (NARCAN), a medication that reverses an opioid overdose
  • Each participant will be eligible to receive a free single-dose naloxone kit

When: November 14 from 2:00-4:00pm
Where: Gloucester County Library – Greenwich Township Branch (411 Swedesboro Road, Gibbstown, NJ 08027)
Training Provided by: Urban Treatment Associates, Inc. with funding provided by NJDHS-DMHAS
Registration will be capped at 20.   Due to low registration, this session has been cancelled.

When: December 16, 2019 from 3:00-5:00pm
Where: Monmouth County Library Headquarters (125 Symmes Dr, Manalapan Township, NJ 07726)

Registration will be capped at 20.

When: January 7, 2020 from 10:00am-12:00pm
Where: Sussex County Library – E Louise Childs Memorial Branch (21 Stanhope Sparta Rd, Stanhope, NJ 07874)
Training Provided by: Morris County Prevention is Key with funding provided by NJDHS-DMHAS
