Interested in Genealogy? The State Library has great resources

Have you seen the ads about finding out who you are and you say, “I want to, but where do I start?” Use the Genealogy research guide at the State Library to help.  This Genealogy guide clearly shows you how to take the first steps and subsequent ones to finding out about your own personal history.  It tells you about useful print resources we have, basic information and what’s available to you at the State Library, the State Archives and NJ County offices. There’s a nice note from the Genealogy Librarian to encourage you to take that first step.  She is willing to assist you as you use State Library resources.  We often have classes relating to genealogy and how to do searching so check out our events website for possible classes.

So don’t let researching your ancestors stump you, there’s help available at the State Library. Take advantage of it and you’ll be on your way to being a researcher in your own genealogy.  For help and assistance, contact our reference desk at refdesk@njstatelib.org or 609-278-2640 ext. 103.
