State Librarian’s Update – April 2026

Home State Librarian’s Update – April 2026

April 10, 2026

Registration is now open for Reimagining Information Literacy, a virtual national forum on information literacy that NJSL is holding. The forum is another activity of our three-year Teaching Information Literacy grant from IMLS and promises to be really interesting. Topics that will be discussed include connected learning, New Jersey’s information literacy student learning standards, gamification of information literacy, AI literacy, and algorithmic literacy. It is offered at no charge, and you can view the agenda and register from the forum website. If you have questions about the forum or the project more generally, please contact me.

I’m pleased to relay that the multi-state Attorney General lawsuit against the administration that included IMLS is resolved, at least for IMLS. The administration appealed the District Court’s permanent injunction and withdrew IMLS from the appeal. This means that the District Court’s December decision that restaffed IMLS and reinstated discretionary grants and programs will stand.

I’m always happy to hear about what you’re doing, so please be in touch: jnelson@njstatelib.org.
