The Adult Services department of The New Jersey State Library Talking Book and Braille Center (TBBC) serves New Jersey adult residents who have difficulty reading because of blindness, a physical impairment, a reading disability or a vision challenge. Applications:

The New Jersey State Library Talking Book and Braille Center (TBBC) serves NJ residents of all ages who have difficulty reading standard print or who cannot hold a book or turn the pages of a book due to blindness, a physical impairment, a reading disability or a vision challenge. In addition, we serve all places in NJ that serve eligible residents and we serve New Jersey Libraries. You must apply for our services. Find applications here.

The New Jersey State Library Talking Book and Braille Center provides books in Braille, Large Print, and Audiobook formats. TBBC’s collection has more than 60,000 book titles and 42 periodicals available. Machines for playing the recorded materials are available on loan from TBBC. We also have an app for Apple mobile devices, BARD Mobile. BARD Mobile is a part of the Braille and Audio Reading Download service offered by the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, Library of Congress.

Our services include:

  • Audiobooks. Search the NLS Catalog online. Registered patrons can also visit our new Patron Page to browse and order books. This new patron website replaces our old self service catalog. Patrons can logon to the new Patron Page by clicking the link, selecting NJ1A – Trenton from the drop down menu, and then entering their patron ID and password. First time users can contact the library for their initial login ID and password through our reader services phone line at 800-792-8322 or by email at tbbc@njstatelib.org.

  • Audiobook Players
  • Books & Magazines
