From navigating trains and buses to walking to the office, commuting is challenging for anyone. But what about those with a disability?
On this week’s Toll of Commuting, News 12’s Amanda Eustice rides the train with a woman who’s been blind most of her life.
Danielle Sykora, of Oxford, navigates her commute and life a bit differently.
She is led by the eyes of Jackie, her trained guide dog.
Her job is in Lincoln Park, where she works as a registered dietitian in a long-term care facility.
She gets a ride to the Hackettstown train stations, hops on the train, transfers at another station and when she gets off the train, she walks nearly a mile, through intersections, up hills, and even in areas where there is no sidewalk.
