October 3, 2025

Thank you to those of you who participated in the library regulations review process over the last two years. Two working groups met at least monthly for a year to consider and discuss changes, and public listening sessions to solicit feedback were also held. Public comment ended on October 3, and we are in the process of reviewing and responding to those we received. We are preparing guidance for libraries and their boards on the content of any new or revised standards. We will integrate any changes into our state aid process and will notify the library community when the date of adoption is established.
Coming up over the next year is a review of the Library Construction Bond Act regulations, which expire in November 2026. Keep an eye open for opportunities to comment and provide your thoughts about what should or should not be amended. We would love to hear from you.
We are excited that more than 60 librarians have expressed an interest in participating in our Teaching Information Literacy pilot project this winter. The response to the training we’ve been doing in this area has been rewarding. We have another series of training starting on October 8, and we’re looking forward to engaging with a new group of educators. We’re also hopeful that the standards will be made available for public comment in the coming months.
